Allen will begin his second season as the teamÆs pitching coach. The former Yankee and Met coached the Staten Island Yankees to a 3.22 ERA, good for third in the league. Other success stories of his staff in 2001 were Jason ArnoldÆs no-hitter and Chuck ManningÆs 87 strikeouts being best in the league.
This is AllenÆs third season as a member of the Yankees Minor League Staff after spending the four seasons prior to that as a pitching coach in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He spent three seasons (1996, 1998 &1999) as the pitching coach of the St. Catharine Stompers.
Allen was a major league pitcher for 11 seasons, compiling a 58-70 record with 75 saves for the New York Mets (1979-83), St. Louis Cardinals (1983-85), Chicago White Sox (1986-87), New York Yankees (1985, 1987-88), and Cleveland Indians (1989). He is one of 65 Major League Players to play for both the Yankees and the Mets.
